Have you ever Googled your own name? How did you feel about the results?

Deflated that I'm not the only one out there. At least I'm #1.

QotD: Top 5 Video Games

What's on your Top 5 video games list?
Submitted by mileena.

This is not my definitive list, but these are some games that immediately come to mind..

1. Phantasy Star series - SMS/Genesis: No, not the new PSO/PSU stuff (although they were fun for a while), but the original series for the SMS and Genesis. The original was amazing for its time with crazy first person dungeons, a gripping story, and ridiculous playtime. The second was equally amazing pulling out things that were anything but cliche at the time (*shock* primary character dies). The third sucked, but I still played through to all four endings. The fourth combined everything great about the first two for one of the best in the series. I still look back fondly on my time spent with the Phantasy Star series.

2. Dance Dance Revolution - Arcade: There's not a single series I've plunked more money into over the years (not even Beatmania IIDX with my ASC) than the venerable DDR series. I still make an effort to make at least one trip a week to the arcade for a couple hours of arrow smashing.

3. Metal Gear Solid 3 - PS2: I've always been a whore for the series (I even loved the PSP versions), but after playing through MGS3 and finishing the experience, I sat back and reflected on what was perhaps one of the most immersive, fun, and rewarding gaming experience.

4. Oblivion - Xbox 360: After spending over 100 hours on the game, I still played it. Probably record for any single game (aside from the original PSO). An amazing open-ended RPG experience that I engroseed me for months. A great story, a seemingly limitless amount of side quests, crazy customizability.

5. Super Mario Bros. 3 - NES: Speaking of immersive games, this is one that I played over and over again. I read through the Nintendo Power guide on it hundreds of times, and still managed to find huge levels of fun every time I played it. It still remains the best of the series in my opinion.

Honorable mention:

Alex Kidd in Miracle World - SMS (it was like SMB for the SMS, but way better)

Final Fantasy VII - PS (call me a fanboy, but it rocked)

Kingdom Hearts II - PS2 (I did not like the original, but the second was simply amazing)

Sierra adventure games - PC (Space Quest, Kings Quest, Police Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry. These games have sucked countless hours of my life away)

Lucasarts adventure games - PC (The Dig, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, and many others. These games have also sucked countless hours of my life away)

What's your sign?  What do you think of astrology and horoscopes?

Leo.

According to Wikipedia:

"Individuals born under this sign are thought of to have a proud, honest, generous, self-motivated, charismatic, warm-hearted, and enthusiastic character, but one which is also prone to conceit, bullying, rigidity, intolerance, and snobbery."

I'm not sure if I have the latter half of those traits. But, then again, what do I know..

For the most part, I think astrology and horoscopes are a bunch of crap. People will are in to astrology and say that it explains a lot about them, when it's all so vague that it could apply to anybody if scrutinized closely enough. Horoscopes are pretty much the same in my opinion.

What is your favorite scent?
Submitted by Erinen.

Vanilla. I've always been fond of vanilla. The sweet scent. The rich flavor. Just about anything smelly with a vanilla scent (soap, candles, toothpaste) is winnar.

How many computers do you have in your house?
Submitted by Foomper.

There was once a time where I created Visio diagrams of my home network to figure out where the hell everything was. But, now I've simplified.

If you want to speak purely on computers (that are in use), I'm down to a svelte 3: two desktops, and one laptop. This is probably the fewest number of computers I've had at any one time in quite some years.

Going to a BBQ tomorrow. Playing video games. Yeah, that's about it. Not a whole hell of a lot.

QotD: My First Car

Tell us a little something about your first car.  Do you have any photos you can share?
Submitted by tamara.

I wish I had pictures, but alas I don't. My first car was a white (with beige pinstripes, natch) 1987 Volkswagen Fox that I inherited from my mother. It had a wonderful gutless engine, no air conditioning, no power steering or power brakes, AM-FM cassette radio (that enjoyed eating my tapes), cloth seats, hand crank windows, and four speed manual transmission, but it took me on a daily 150 or so mile drive to work and back.

When I was 19 and making what I thought was an amazing salary, I traded it in and bought a new car, a 1997 Honda Accord. Of course, that was before I had to do stuff like pay rent and buy food, so most of my paycheck went toward the monthly payment and insurance.
